PiKVM Switch Multiport Extender - Unlock Multi-System Access
The PiKVM Switch enables one PiKVM device to view and control multiple computer targets connected to each port from a web UI. Up to five Switch Multiport Extenders can be daisy-chained to provide 20 ports, allowing a single PiKVM to control and manage one of 20 connected targets. Compared to classic data center KVM switches, it offers similar control at a lower cost and with simpler maintenance.
Each video input includes a dedicated EDID for accurate HDMI display emulation, along with full control over the connection state of every port.
With PiKVM’s modular design and the Switch, you can expand your setup step by step, adding units as needed without ever replacing the whole KVM.
Compatibility
- PiKVM V4 Plus
- PiKVM V3
- PiKVM V2, V1 DIY models
⚠️ PiKVM V4 Mini is not compatible with the PiKVM Switch (no available USB host ports).
The Switch Multiport Extender must be controlled through the PiKVM interface, since the unit has no built-in controls.
Features
- Cost-effective scalability – One Switch can manage up to 5 chained switches (20 ports), cutting costs and maintenance.
- 4 targets per unit – Each extender adds four controllable systems.
- Seamless integration & updates – Managed directly with PiKVM OS, with automatic firmware sync across all chained switches for stable, unified control.
- Operational insights with multifunctional status LEDs – Monitor detected targets, selected ports, and the switch's overall status in real time.
- Rapid switching – With an advanced HDMI dummy plug function, you can switch between target computers significantly faster than competing solutions!
- Video inputs feature dedicated EDID configuration and complete control over the connection state of each port.
- Ready to use – Includes a power supply, ATX adapters for power and AUX control, brackets, and all the cables needed to get started!

Built for PiKVM, Totally worth It!
If you already have a PiKVM Plus, this is the switch to get. I’ve been using this switch for a short while now and it’s been rock-solid. Setup was straightforward, and it integrated seamlessly with my PiKVM v4 Plus. It does exactly what it says: expands control across multiple systems without adding complexity.
It’s a bit pricey, but no regrets. The cheaper options won’t give you the same features or level of reliability. This one is built for Pi KVM and it shows.
Since it is open-source, you can always tweak or add what you need down the road. Thats probably the best part for me. -
Just get it!
I first messed around with the original Pi-KVM HAT at home. Mainly for fun, controlling an old PC from my couch. It was cool, but I figured it was more of a tinkerer’s toy than anything else.
Then I saw the new PiKVM V4 Plus and the switch. I was tired of wrestling with overpriced KVM at work so I took the dive. Now I’ve got the V4 Plus paired with the switch running in production. Setup was a breeze and cable management is way cleaner now. Highly recommend.
